Living Colour at Grenfell Art Gallery

Visitors from far and wide are enjoying the Living Colour exhibition at Grenfell Art Gallery, Grenfell, New South Wales.  Here is a report from Charlene of Harden:

I was totally stunned by the quilts, both Living Colour and your own.  The photos I’d seen barely did them justice, the subjects just jumped off the wall, the colours are so vibrant, and the different interpretations were interesting as well…  Friends tease me because I save tiny pieces of fabric, now I can show them your quilts and demonstrate what magic can be done with them.

Thank you so much for putting these exhibitions together, and if I get a chance to get back to Grenfell while they’re still there I will surely go.  I hope they continue to make people happy during the rest of their travels, and when I see the photos I will remember how much better the real quilts were, and see them again in my mind.

The exhibition continues until 20 December 2014.  Gallery hours: Tuesday – Friday 10am-4pm and Saturday: 9.30am-12pm.

Grenfell Art Gallery is calling for expressions of interest from individuals and groups of artists for 2015 exhibitions.  See Arts OutWest for further information.  EoIs closed on 22 December 2015.

Installation at Grenfell

Installation at GrenfellAlong with the Living Colour artists, I extend a huge thank you to Carly Brown and the team of other volunteers at Grenfell Art Gallery who looked after installation of the exhibition earlier this week.

As you can see from these work-in-progress photos, the centre of the gallery space is opened up to enable viewers to take in the full rainbow effect of the exhibit.

Installation at Grenfell

The exhibition opened on 25 November and has already attracted textile enthusiasts from as far afield as Temora, Ariah Park (just up the road from Quandary!), Tubbul and Bribbaree. (I’d love a position on the Geographic Names Board!)

Invitation to Living Colour in Adelaide

As a curator, I endeavour (as far as practicable!) to give the participating artists an opportunity to share the exhibition with their local community. Two of the Living Colour! artists live in South Australia so I am delighted that the exhibition will be on display at the Craft and Quilt Fair in Adelaide this week Thursday to Sunday, 13- 16 November, 10am-4.30pm. Thank you to Expertise Events and the Quilters’ Guild of South Australia for making this possible.

Join Suzanne Gummow for an artist floor talk at 1.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.  Suzanne will also have copies of the Living Colour Catalogue available for sale.

Living Colour at the Sydney Quilt Show

With able assistance from Glenda W, Living Colour! was hung at the Sydney Quilt Show in record time. The new exhibition venue at Glebe Island has fantastic natural lighting and the collection shines:
